ABOUT THE PROGRAM


| The centerpiece of this certificate program is the 144-hour Integrative Herbalism unit, which brings together studies in physiology, pathology, herbal actions, and Materia Medica. It begins with the basics of Vitalist healing, then moves through the function of tissues, organs, and systems, and the actions of herbs most commonly used to support them. Also included in the program are holistic nutrition, field botany, and plant identification, herbal pharmacy, flower essence studies, and a class on herbs and supplements of commerce.

Courses

  • Integrative Herbalism – Anatomy & Physiology, Pathology, Materia Medica (herbs and essential oils), and Herbal Pharmacy: 144 hours
  • Introduction to Nutrition: 30 hours
  • Introduction to Botany and Plant Identification: 33 hours
  • Introduction to Flower Essences: 9 hours
  • Herbs of Commerce: 12 hours
  • Materia Medica Independent Study: 106 hours
  • Advanced Materia Medica: 24 hours
  • Opening/Closing, Orientations, Exams: 12 hours

Occupational objective

To provide introductory level training in medical herbalism and clinical nutrition for students who intend to work in the herb or health food industries or pursue further advanced studies (e.g., our Advanced Herbalism course). The majority of students who graduate from Fundamentals go on to take the Advanced Herbalism course at CSCH.

Monthly payment plans

  • A deposit of $500 secures your place in class
  • Monthly payments of $650/month for 4 months
  • Tuition may also be paid in 1-3 installments
